Il carattere innovativo della NanoSiliCal Devices risiede, pertanto, nella sua preminente attivit\u00e0 di ricerca e sviluppo.<\/p>\n<p>La NanoSiliCal Devices svolge la propria attivit\u00e0 nell\u2019ambito della produzione di sistemi multifunzionali nano-strutturati, a base di silice mesoporosa (Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles, MSNs), per il rilascio intracellulare di molecole biologicamente attive. La versatilit\u00e0 d&#8217;impiego delle silici mesoporose nelle reazioni chimiche con molecole organiche per produrre ibridi consente di mettere a punto sistemi multifunzionali capaci di supportare una funzione biologica in grado di indirizzare il sistema sui tessuti di interesse terapeutico e di trasportare contemporaneamente un farmaco che pu\u00f2 essere somministrato direttamente alle cellule tumorali.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019idea su cui si basa la NanSiliCal Devices nasce da una serie di approfonditi studi svolti nell\u2019ambito delle propriet\u00e0, sintesi, caratterizzazione e validazione biologica delle silici mesoporose. Ci\u00f2 implica l\u2019ideazione e lo sviluppo di nuovi veicoli utilizzabili nella terapia mirata, finalizzati a minimizzare l&#8217;esposizione dei tessuti sani ai farmaci antineoplastici, rilasciando il chemioterapico direttamente all\u2019interno delle cellule tumorali. \u00c8 ben noto, infatti, che la somministrazione di farmaci antineoplastici determina tossicit\u00e0 importanti che ne limitano il potenziale terapeutico e riducono l\u2019aderenza dei pazienti alla terapia, e che l&#8217;utilizzo di dosi sub-terapeutiche pu\u00f2, di contro, determinare lo sviluppo di resistenza ai farmaci indotto da cambiamenti biochimici o da variazioni dei meccanismi di eliminazione o di uptake del farmaco.
